King Charles III just rocked an unexpected accessory.
The British monarch, 74, stepped out in Norfolk near the Sandringham Estate on Sunday to attend a service and took a moment to greet supporters gathered outside. At first glance, the king had a normal style: a suit and tie, covered by a long jacket. But he added some fun to his ensemble with a patterned pink tie with blue dinosaurs.
King Charles previously spoke about his approach to fashion in a 2020 interview with Brits Fashion.
“I thought I was like a stopped clock – I’m right twice in 24 hours. But … I’m very happy that you think it has style,” he told the magazine.

Royal has a reputation for mending and mending its bespoke leather shoes and patching vintage suits, which are hand-made at the tailors’ port of Saville Row in London.
“I’m one of those people who hates to throw anything away. That’s why I’d rather have them maintained, even patched up if necessary, than abandon them. The problem is, as you get older, you tend to change shape and it’s not so easy to fit into clothes .I can’t stand any waste, including food waste; I’d much rather find another use for it,” he explained to the British. While many members of the royal family are known to recycle their previously worn clothes, King Charles takes it to heart and sometimes wears clothes decades apart. In fact, he wore a gray Anderson & Sheppard morning suit to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding in 2018 – a piece he’s had in his wardrobe since 1984.

When British Vogue editor Edward Enninful asked if the royal family had considered wearing something new for such an occasion, Charles replied: “I have considered it.” wear it a few times a year, in the summer, so it’s clear you want to keep these things going.”
“But if I can’t fit into them, I just have to get something new made,” he continued. “But I’m not sure how radically different they can be at my age.

King Charles stepped out in Scotland (sporting a kilt!) on Thursday to visit the Aboyne and Mid Deeside Community Shed, a community space that hopes to improve the health and wellbeing of local residents by reducing rural social isolation. It marked his first official outing since the publication of Prince Harry’s memoirs.
Speaking exclusively to PEOPLE, Prince Harry says, “I don’t want to tell anyone what to think about it, including my family. In many ways, this book and its truths are a continuation of my own mental health journey. It’s a raw account of my life — the good, the bad, and everything in between.”
