In my ideal world, I would live in tracksuits – but in real world, that is not always possible. I have places to go and people to see, and sweats—while they’ve definitely come a long way from being strictly “house pants”—aren’t always the most appropriate attire. I craved the comfort, lightness, and breeze of sweat with the elegance of something more refined, and the funny thing is, that exact thing was already in my closet: pants.
I’ve waxed poetic about pants before (hey, I’m loyal to my fashion favorites!). They’ve been trending for a while now, with celebrities like Kendall Jenner and Hailey Bieber regularly stepping out in variations of them – and while there was no doubt that the bum bottoms would reign supreme in 2023, Katie Holmes just cemented her place in this year’s knicker hierarchy ( AKA, near the top).
The actress stepped out to make an appearance Good morning America Jan. 11, where she discussed her new off-Broadway show, “The Wanderers.” While we’re so excited to hear all about her latest acting project (what can not this girl does?), we’re more excited about what she wore: a leather coat by Tove, a simple black shirt, a white button-up, and those metallic gold pants that were equal parts elegant and comfortable.
Pants really are everything, which is one of the reasons I’m so loyal to them. They may once have been considered outdated work pants, but today they go with almost everything: the office (of course), but also fancy dinners, Sunday brunches and simple afternoon strolls around town. They’re like a chameleon that can turn into almost anything you want it to, depending on how you manipulate them, and that’s what makes them so interesting. Plus, their baggier, more comfortable silhouette and traditionally soft fabrics put them on par with sweatshirts.
Taking a more formal route with her trouser cut, Holmes anchored her look with a surprising footwear combo: tights and silver metallic heels, a great winter style you must try. Because if you want to wear pumps in winter, socks (or tights) are a must – this is another trend that’s here to stay.
