It’s almost here! Brand new season Winter love island returns to our screens next week, and while we can’t wait to see what drama the all-new cast will bring – we’re most excited for the outfits. Partnering with eBay and popular pro Amy Bannerman for the second consecutive season, Love Island contestants will be wearing a carefully selected wardrobe of favorite items.
Not only does this mean that the cast can now wear designer brands, but it also means that almost every outfit we’ll see on screen will be vintage, with the aim of expanding the conversation around circular fashion. It won’t surprise you that since the partnership began, web searches for popular fashion have grown by a whopping 1,600% (!).
eBay x Love Island they teamed up for the first time in August 2022 in the eighth season, in which Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu and Davide Sanclimenti crowned the winners. But it was runner-up Tasha Ghouri who won us over in the style stakes, stealing the show with some real fashion moments (remember the Jean Paul Gaultier two-piece??). And before you ask, no, the cast members aren’t actually supposed to keep their clothes on.
For season nine, the team is back to give us more fashion gold, and we’ve been given a sneak peek at all the fashion trends to expect in the villa…
Tutti Frutti
Bright, bold and beautiful. Curated by Bannerman, the Tutti Frutti trend is all about bold colors and prints. Look out for acidy Versace two-pieces, plenty of tie jackets, bomber jackets and of course last season’s ‘It’ Poster Girl dresses are back again. Tasha Ghouri’s actual birthday dress (a pre-favorite Versace latex number) is making its way to South Africa, where she’ll be re-wearing it in the villa as part of the trend.

2 of 2
A trend inspired by none other than pop-punk power couple Kourtney and Travis, Bannerman revealed. Keep your eyes peeled for leather (there’s a lot of it), chain tops and oversized biker jackets. As the series takes place in South Africa, the January climate means leather is appropriate, without the risk of contestants sweating (for all the wrong reasons) on hot dates. Statement pieces include Paco Rabanne chain maxi dresses and slinky tops. Paris Hilton would be proud.
Dressed denim
It’s no secret that the Islanders have a soft spot for jeans. Expect to see plenty of popular denim (the best way to buy denim) throughout the series this season. Bannerman’s team have selected oversized denim jackets for both boys and girls alongside tailored denim shorts, denim crop tops and Y2K washes – perfect for Spring/Summer 23.
Trade vs. Celebration
Think vintage tailoring, oversized blazers and smart waistcoats. For Love Island smart jackets and trousers will be worn with sparkly bra tops and silk shirts. For boys, it’s all about relaxed but smart pieces, soft fabrics and easy button-downs. Check out Kate Moss’s vest for Topshop, which we think will be the most popular in Iceland.
Now bring on the bombs!
